- Chemical Laboratories
- Animal Laboratories
- Physical Laboratories
In the operation, laboratory generate potentially some hazard, come from the material or effect of process. Hazard, is the importance thing to make a design concept , so that meets to the applicable safety plans.
The following Design parameters must be established for a laboratory space :
- Temperature and Humidity, both indoor and outdoor
- Air Quality from both process and safety perspective, including the need for air filtration and special treatment ( charcoal, HEPA, or other filtration of supply or exhaust air)
- Equipment and process heat gains, both sensible and latent
- Minimum ventilation rates
- Equipment and process exhaust quantities
- Exhaust and air intake location
- Style of the exhaust device, capture velocities, and usage factors
- Need for standby equipment and emergency power
- Alarm requirement
- Potential changes in the sizes and number of fume hoods
- Room pressurization requirement
As We wrote above, this project is a laboratory as level as Ebola Virus Reasearch. Virus, next we can call“Agent”, being a important information to classify Biological Laboratories. NHI divides Biological Lab in 4 levels ;
- BL Level 1 ( example :Bacillus Subtilis, Nagleria Gruberi )
- BL Level 2 ( example : Hepatities, HIV, Salmonella, Toxoplasma )
- BL Level 3 ( example : Mybacterium Tuberculosis, ST. Louis Encephalitis Virus, Coxiella Burnetti )
- BL Level 4 ( example : Ebola )
From BL Classification , we can see , this project is in BL Level 4.
The customer give us a layout drawing, where the laboratory will be designed and established.
From discussion, the laboratory has a administration room and a research room. Because this laboratory is not difference with a clean room, we can associate this project with a clean room project.
Research room is always under strictly control.
NEXT : ROOM CALCULATION
